A father and son, building for South African farms.
Farm Bi started as a conversation between a father and son who both grew up around farming. Louis Meyer spent his career in agriculture and knows how a farm actually runs day to day — what a farmer needs to see, and how the people doing the work would realistically capture it. Deon Meyer builds software. Together, they set out to close the gap between the two.
The problem was always the same: a worker fills in a paper form in the field, and someone in the office re-types it into a spreadsheet or an accounting system days later. By the time an owner sees the numbers, they're already old — and every re-typed record is a chance for something to go missing or get entered wrong.
Farm Bi captures a record once, at the source, and makes it available immediately. A manager or owner can log in from a phone or a laptop and see what's actually happening on the farm right now — not what happened two weeks ago once someone got around to capturing it.
Offline-first isn't a nice-to-have for us — it's a requirement. A lot of farms don't have reliable cellular signal in the places work actually happens, so Farm Bi is built to keep capturing data with or without a connection, and sync the moment one's available.
Our mission is simple: put the information a farmer needs into their hands, in a form they can act on, so decisions get made on today's data — not last month's paperwork.
